Tabaka Mission Hospital is a Catholic healthcare institution founded and operated by the Order of St. Camillus, dedicated to serving the people of Kisii with compassion, excellence, and faith.
"The sick are our masters and we must serve them with love and devotion." — St. Camillus de Lellis
The Legacy of St. Camillus de Lellis
St. Camillus de Lellis (1550-1614) was an Italian priest who dedicated his life to caring for the sick. After experiencing serious illness himself, he was moved by the poor conditions in hospitals and the lack of compassionate care for patients.
In 1582, he founded the Order of Ministers of the Infirm (Camillians), a religious congregation devoted exclusively to the care of the sick, even in times of plague and war. The Camillians were the first to introduce the red cross as a symbol of medical care.
Today, the Camillian order continues St. Camillus' mission worldwide, operating hospitals, clinics, and healthcare institutions like Tabaka Mission Hospital, bringing healing and hope to communities in need.
